Waiting on Wednesday {18}

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights books that have not yet been released, but ones that you should pre-order today!

Insurgent
Divergent #2
By Veronica Roth
hardcover, 525 pages
Expected publication date: May 1st 2012 by HarperTeen

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Why I want this book: OK, so maybe asking why I want this book is a dumb question because anyone who's read Divergent can understand why I want Insurgent so freaking badly! I wasn't sure if I was going to even like Divergent when I first bought it last year because at that point the only dystopian I'd really read was The Hunger Games. But I said what the heck, I really want to read it and thank goodness I did, because Divergent's now one my top favorite books of all time. I am planning to reread it as well before diving into Insurgent next month when it's released.

Waiting on Wednesday #17

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over atBreaking the Spine. It spotlights books that have not yet been released, but ones that you should pre-order today!

As the only Scion that can enter Hades at will, Helen descends to the Underworld in search of a way to overcome the Furies and end the cycle of revenge that has cursed the Scions. But she's running out of time. Each descent weakens her both mind and spirit. A mysterious stranger might be her only salvation, but the price may be her love for Lucas Delos.

As an unforgettable love triangle emerges, Josephine Angelini's compelling saga becomes even more intricate and spellbinding. The eagerly awaited sequel to the internationally bestselling Starcrossed, Dreamless delivers with a huge emotional impact that will leave readers satisfied - and longing for more.

I just reviewed Starcrossed a few weeks ago (read my review Here) and I was blown away by it! Therefore it's not a big surprise that I cannot wait for the sequel to come out. The expected release date is May 29th 2012 by HarperTeen. I'll be preordering this one!

Don't forget to let me know what you're waiting on this week!

This week Wembley & I have chosen:

Matthew has loved Ariel from the moment he found her in the tunnels, her bee's wings falling away. They live in Safe, an underground refuge for those fleeing the city Above - like Whisper, who speaks to ghosts, and Jack Flash, who can shoot lightning from his fingers.

But one terrifying night, an old enemy invades Safe with an army of shadows, and only Matthew, Ariel, and a few friends escape Above. As Matthew unravels the mystery of Safe's history and the shadows' attack, he realizes he must find a way to remake his home - not just for himself, but for Ariel, who needs him more than ever before.

Why I Can't WAIT for This Book: I think the cover (which is totally gorgeous) and the synopsis say it all. From Griffin's Website, Masque is a "...Post-Apocalyptic reimagining of Poe's gothic horror story of the same name..." It seems like such an awesome idea and it makes me kind of want to go read some Poe!

Blood of Eden #1
by Julie Kagawa
hardcover, 304 pages
Expected Publication: April 24th 2012 by Harlequin Teen

You will kill. The only question is when.

In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires has risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets". In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero ... and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human ... for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship - not even for love.

See, I'm really excited for this one because it's so different from any other YA Vamp-Fic that is currently out there - and there is a TON of it. This book just sounds so unique, and the cover is just GORG! I have the first book in Kagawa's Iron Fey series (unfortunately it's packed away due to an upcoming move - and I've been DYING to tear apart the boxes stacked in my spare room just to find it!) and I've heard such great things about that series that I cannot foresee her doing amazing things in this series as well.
